How To: Beachy Waves

So my hair doesn't hold scrunching well at all! But I tried this method and it totally worked for me!
What you need: 2 Hair ties, Scrunching spray/gel or sea salt (I used Garnier Fructis Wonder Waves) a towel or cotton tee (I used a towel because they make your hair frizzy. My hair is super sleek so I wanted to rough it up a bit. If you don't want frizz or want to minimize it, then use a cotton t-shirt). Hair spray (optional. I didn't use any but a great one is Tresemme Tres Spray super hold)

  1. Make sure your hair is damp and not soaking wet! After about half an hour to an hour after I take a shower I do this. If you have hard to curl hair then I wouldn't suggest brushing your hair
  2. Spray scrunching spray all throughout your hair and scrunch with towel/tee.
  3. Scrunch hair up into two bunches on each side of your head. Yes, you will look funny!
  4. Let dry! For me it usually takes about half an hour. If you're in a rush, you can blow dry your hair in these bunches. You can also sleep with these in.
  5. Let your hair down! Style as needed I wouldn't recomend brushing it out!
The end result!

What to Wear?

We all know those scenerios when you just don't know what to wear to an event. Is it formal? Is it casual? Is it a mix? Here are some tips to help you decode what to wear.
  • Venue. A ballroom or formal resterraunt calls for a classy, formal dress. Hip clubs or cocktail parties signal knee length, fun party dresses. Light, wispy fabrics are appropirate at garden parties or more casual events.
  • Time. Weekend brunch or afternoon tea require little, casual dresses, but no black durring the day. Pool parties or BBQ's are obviously casual, but make sure to carry a cover up with you if you wear a swimsuit! Late nights are more formal
  • Hosts. If the person hosting the event tends to dress casually, then chances are they will be at there event. Don't go completley casual though! You can always call the host if they're your friend and find out what they're wearing.
Still confused? When in doubt, dress up a little. What's the worst case? You look a little more fabulous than everyone else? If someone complains, tell them you have another event to go to afterwards. Hope you guys enjoyed!

8 Tips for Going Vintage

Hey everyone! So I'm sure we all know that going vintage has been a trend for a while now. It can be hard sometimes shopping vintage though. Here are 8 tips that help:

  1. Modern. Does this vintage piece look modern? I know that's a lot of irony, but if the piece doesn't have a touch of modernism, it will look too costume-y.
  2. Quality. While many things can be fixed by a cobber or tailor, there are somethings that just can't. Beware of holes, missing beads/jewels, stains (if they've been on the piece that long, they're most likley not coming off now), and shattered hems.
  3. Desire. Make sure that you will actually wear this daily! It can be tempting to get something, but make sure you love it, and will actually wear it.
  4. Label. Just because a piece of clothing has a certain brand, it doesn't mean it's always better. Little known designers can work just as well.
  5. Company. Make sure you go with someone that you trust will tell you what looks good and what's too costume like.
  6. Trends. Forget them. Most vintage stores carry the things they do because they're timeless, therefore trends do not apply here.
  7. Statement. Vintage jewlery is all about statement making!
  8. Fake. Vintage doesn't mean it has to be real diamonds, pearls ect.
Hope you guys enjoyed, and I hope this helps! What are your favorite vintage shops?

Jewelry Box Basics

Hey everyone! We all know that jewelry is an essential to all outfits, making any basic outfit fabulous, but with so many pieces out there, it's hard to find what are essentials and what to have at all. So I'm here to help with that! Here are the pieces I think everyone should have (with your own little twist of course!)

  • Diamond stud earrings (real or fake)
  • Pearl stud earrings (real or fake)
  • Hoops
  • Statement Cocktail Ring
  • Statement earrings
  • Strand of pearls
  • A watch
  • Your favorite simple necklace
  • Bangle/cuff bracelet
  • Dressy necklace
  • Dressy earrings
Hope you guys enjoyed! Keep in mind that you should put your take on each of these, and you don't have to have them all! Personally, I don't really like hoops and I don't like wearing a watch, but they are classic and timeless.

Purple Smokey Eye!

Hey everyone! Feels like I haven't posted in forever :( but I'm here with a twist on the smokey eye! So basically, I had a dance recital today and my dress was silver and purple so I matched my makeup to my dress. Let's get started:

First, put a sparkley silver on the inner third of your lid. Then, put a purple-pink on the middle of your lid and a purple in the crease and outer third of your lid. Blend with a blending brush. As you can see, I did a winged eyeliner, which I will do a tutorial on later, and apply mascara. There you go! All done. Hope you enjoyed!

April Favs!

Hey everyone! Time for my April Favorites!! I have been really loving the school girl look! Collard button ups, cardigans, it's just so pretty! Of course I fall in love with this look in spring time when I can't wear it because of the weather! Boyce Avenue and We Are the In Crowd are the bands I have been LOVING this month! I'm so addicted to photobooths too! I love DIY projects too: do you guys have any you love? Hope you guys enjoyed! DIY: Distressed Jeans

Hey everyone! So today I'm going to show you guys how to distress your own jeans and make your own holes. Baisically, you're going to put one leg on an ironing board. Then, you're going to take some scissors and run them all along the spot where you want the hole to be. Go up, down and side to side, really fast. There will be a lot of fuzz coming off because of the jeans, but thats okay! You can tug on the jeans and the hole to stretch it out and speed up the process. You may have to spend a little doing this, but it turns out looking great!!                            Here's the final result:

DIY: Cutoffs

Hey everyone! So today I thought I would show you guys how to make your winter jeans into spirng cutoffs!

First, you're going to cut your jeans whatever length you want them. I suggest cutting them right above the knee, it's what I did. You can use a ruler to draw a straight line on both pant legs to make sure they're even, but you don't have to if you don't feel the need.

When you've cut the legs, take the ends of the newly cut pants and run scissors across them. This will create a fringe look. Once you've done that, pull on the loose pieces at the bottom. This will get longer and more fringe, while also getting the ones that the scissors misssed.

And it's that easy!! You're all done, now you just wear them out!! I'm wearing a floral tank that I got from PacSun. Hope you enjoyed!!

DIY: Off the Shoulder Shirt

Hey everyone! So a couple days ago my sister was going to a concert, but wanted her shirt to be more edgy. She wanted me to make it an off the shoulder shirt. I wasn't clear on how to do this, so I experemented on a couple old shirts she didn't want. I'm here to make this a lot eaiser for you!

So all you'll need is an oversized shirt (it doesn't have to be very big, but it can't be tight) For mine, I used a tee that I got at a concert. It was the smallest size they had left, but it was too big for me. So all you do is lay your shirt down on a hard surface, and hold the top and bottom tight. You're going to cut along the collar, tugging on the shirt as you go so the scissors don't cut uneven. After that's all cut, put the scissors about one or two inches below what you already cut and repeat the same proccess. You do want to curve what you're cutting though.

And voilla!! Do you like? By the way, my shirt says I ♥ Disco Curtis (which is a band! Go check him out!! http://www.youtube.com/user/DiscoCurtis )

Stretch Shoes!

Do you have shoes that are too small for you or need to be broken in? Well this simple trick can help you out! I would suggest not doing this on shoes that are over a size too small, it most likely won't work. It will stretch it, but not enough for you to fit. You may have to repeat this process on certain types of materials on shoes. Alright so lets get to it!

So first, you fill 2 sandwich bags 1/4 full of water. Make sure you seal it tight! Then, you're going to stuff them into your shoes. But your shoes into the freezer and wait for the water to turn to ice. I had to wait about an hour to an hour and a half. Then take them out and let the ice thaw. Your shoes should now be bigger! Hope you enjoyed and hope this helped!!

Review: Goody Spin Pin

So today I'm going to let you guys know what I think about the Goody Spin Pin! I think it is a genius idea! I only used it in a bun, because it's the only updo I really do that would require this type of bobby pin. I didn't use any rubber bands or any other bobby pins, just this one spin pin. They suggest to use two of these, but I only used one.

Experience:
So I used this and put it in a bun for a whole day, and I didn't have to readjust it once! I was so happy at this! I always have to adjust my updos! I then took a shower and re-did it and went to sleep. It stayed put all night!! I was really happy because nothing ever stays through a whole night! However, when I used it again at night, it fell out. I don't think this problem would happen at all if I used two instead of one.
Price wise, I think they should be a little cheaper, but they are definitly worth it! Hope you enjoyed!!

Cute Twist on the Braid!

Hey everyone! So today I thought I'd show you one of my favorite ways to keep my hair out of my face: a braid! Now I'm sure you all know how to braid (if not, it's super easy!) so I put a little twist on it this time! All I used was a ribbon and a small elastic. I used the white ribbon from my Tiffany's box (for good luck! I was taking a test so) but you can use any ribbon you want.

So all you're going to do is braid your hair like normal and secure it with an elastic. Tie a long ribbon around it and create a bow! Make sure the bow and the remaining ribbon are long!
I would suggest curling your bangs if they're long like mine, and I originally did, but the curl fell out when I took this pic :(

Fashion Tag!

This tag originated on youtube, but I figured I would do it on here since it is so fun!!

1. What's your favorite accessory?
I think it would be the bracelet my friend got me from an American Indian store. It's homemade and has my name on it! I wear it all the time.

2. Whos your role model? (in real life and youtube life)
In real life I admire Angelina Jolie for all the work in the community she does, but I also admire Kim Kardashian because she does everything! In youtube/blog life, I would say ARose186 because she is so open about her faith and is herself all the time.

3. What do you always carry with you?
My phone! It has all my calender events on it, things to do and all the errands I have to complete. It literally has my very busy life on there.

4. What would you describe your fashion style as?
Sometimes boho and sometimes classy

5. Favorite: jeans, sunglasses, heels?
My dark wash skinnies from Forever21 that I always wear, my Forever21 aviators, and my Steve Madden heeled boots that I wear all the time in winter!

6. What inspired you to make fashion blogs?
I started out with a youtube channel, but I just couldn't find the time to film, but I always have time to type so I converted to blogging. I was inspired by the beauty/fashion gurus I subscribed to, and I knew I had some good tips, tricks and outfits.

7. What is your favorite fashion store/shop?
Forever21 obviously! I always talk about that place. I like it because it has a men's section (I like wearing guy tees sometimes and it makes it easy to shop for the guys in my life) shoes, accessories and different styles of clothing.

8. What is your favorite fabric in clothing?
I don't really have a favorite, but I hate silk and corduroy

9. Who is your favorite designer?
I don't really have one. I shop everywhere so.

10. Who/what inspires your fashion?
The people I see on the streets, magazines, gurus, mannequins, everything!

11. What would you choose to do - buy something in high quality or make it your self if you can?
I can't make clothes but that would be really cool to learn! I like doing DIY accessories though.

I tag all of you!!

P.S. Look! One (yes just one) of my ears closed
up and I got an earring through!! YES!!

Nail of the Week

So this week I'm wearing a hot pink Sally Hansen nail polish with the China Glaze Crackle Glaze over it. The color is the black one which is called Black Mesh. I was originally planning on getting the OPI Shatter polish, but I was at Sally's and they don't sell OPI and I saw the China Glaze one. I figured I would get this one instead. It works pretty good. I've used it twice, and it looks good on one hand and not so good on the other hand. That could be because I'm left handed so painting my left hand is a little hard, or it could be the formula. Either way I like it. Do you guys have OPI Shatter? Do you have the China Glaze one? What do you think?

Shower Routine

  1. The first thing I do when I get in the shower is shave. I do this first so that when I wash my legs, my pores will be open from my freshly shaven legs. I usually shave my legs every other day or every three days if I'm lucky. I use Gilette Silk shaving cream and generic razors. I use generic razors because I like them to be clean. I change my razors every 2 weeks to a month or whenever they get dirty. If I use the expensive razors then I would just thorw them away and have to spend more money on a new one. The generic ones work just fine, and you can get a 20-pack for around $5. I use this shaving cream because it applies thin so my razor picks up mostly hair and very little shaving cream.
  2. Then, I was my body. I use a loofa and body wash becaue regular soap dries my skin out so bad.
  3. I shampoo my hair afterwards. I don't shampoo every day because it's not healthy for your hair, but I do take showers every day. I change my shampoo and conditioner when it's all gone because my hair gets used to the formula and it doesn't do what it claims anymore.
  4. After that, I wash my face. Again, my skin gets used to the formula so I never use the same facewash twice in a row. Currently, I'm using Clean and Clear Exfoliating scrub.
  5. Next, I condition my hair. I use the same conditioner as my shampoo.
After I get out of the shower I put lotion on and spray leave in conditioner. I then brush my hair with a boar bristle brush so that I don't damage my hair. Hope you enjoyed! What's your shower routine?

My hair is just straight and I'm just wearing some light gray and pink eyeshadow. Again, I'm wearing these flats from Rue21 and the matching necklace I have with my best friend from Forever 21. Hope you enjoyed! What are you wearing today?

Keep Feet Pretty & Get Rid of Calluses

As a dancer, my feet get really beat up. I get calluses very often, and eventhough they are seen as a "badge of honor" so to say in dance, they are ugly and gross to have in summer when you're showing off your feet. So, there are a couple things you can do to take care of your feet and get rid of callusses.

Here's what NOT to do first:
  1. Don't cut and/or tear them! This will expose new skin underneath which would cause pain, bleeding and infection.
  2. Don't file completely away. It is acceptable to file them, but if you file too close to the skin, you will again expose new skin.
Here's how to get rid of calluses:
  1. File it. You can use a PedEgg or pummice stone to do this, but don't file it all the way!
  2. Keep feet moisturized. You can use lotion, foot creme or vaseline. If the callus is to dry, it will crack and rip.
  3. Soak your feet in Epsom salt. I usually put a cup full into a foot bath, but you can also use a small tub or a sink. Make sure to use warm water!
  4. Wear socks to bed. I like to wear the fuzzy socks that have aloe vera in them. I don't wear them all the time, maybe once or twice a week.
  5. Keep feet clean! I don't know if you guys do this, but I make sure to wash my feet everyday when I'm in the shower. I usually just rub a loofa on them, but if I have bad calluses, I will scrub them with a pummice stone or a foot scrub with body wash.
Hope this helped you guys! What do you do to make your feet pretty?

Sleep Issues Solved!

Do you sometimes have trouble falling asleep? I know I do. Here are my solutions that I personally use. I don't like to take sleeping pills at all. I've only taken them once because I had to get up at 3 in the morning and drive but I've never used them after that. It's not that they didn't work or had some weird side effect, but I just don't really like the idea of taking pills to fall asleep. Normally I'll just listen to my clock tick if I can't fall asleep and listen to the rhythm. That usually puts me out, but if it doesn't, I like to use aromatherapy.

The one I use is from Bath and Body Works. I think it sells for around $12 and the Body Shop has some for around $15. There are many different types. Some to relieve stress, calm down ect. They also come in different forms like body lotion, body wash, pillow mist ect. I use the pillow mist and all you do is spray it on the pillow you sleep on. The scents help you fall asleep. This works so well I love it! And it smells good! It smells like vanilla and lavender.

If you don't want to use this however, there is a trick I also use that I learned from my yoga class. Basically, you inhale deeply, then exhale deeply. That's one. You do this all the way up until ten. The trick is that if you find yourself pondering a thought then you have to start over. It really trains your mind to fall asleep or focus. If you're not asleep, then just keep breathing like you did when you were counting, but just don't count. If you get distracted you can count again.

Hope you guys enjoyed!

How to Get Beachy Waves

Make sure you spray heat protectant before you do
anything! Section your hair. Grab the hair right above
your ears and pin it with a clip.
Then you're going to take a 3-barrel curling iron and clamp it really close to the roots of your hair. It's about a 1 and a half in. section
Hold it for about 10 missippi seconds and unclamp. Then clamp it again just below where you just did. Hold for 10 missippi seconds and repeat.

For the top section of my hair, I like to start from the middle and go down.
<<<<Here is the finished result! Hope you guys liked! Show me a picture of how your's turned out if you tried!

Save or Splurge?

Hey everyone! So today I'm going to let you guys know what beauty products I think you should save on and what beauty products I think you should splurge on. Lets start with they eyes:

Mascara: definitly save! Drugstore mascaras are just as good as more expensive kinds! All of the mascara that I own is drugstore.
Eye Shadow: Splurge. I only say this because Coastal Scents eye shadow palettes are a little pricey but they have every color in every shade that you could ever want. If you're buying trios or quads though, save! Maybeline, Rimmel London, and CoverGirl have great ones!
Primer: Splurge. If you have oily lids or eyeshadows that crease, you definitley need a good primer. I would suggest Urban Decay Primer Potion or MAC's Paint Pots.
Eye Liner: Save. I have plenty of drugstore and more expensive kinds, but I don't notice much of a difference. I don't like pencils period so I wouldn't know what to suggest for those but L'Oreal has good liquid liners, and Maybeline has good gel liners.

Lip Gloss: Save! Yeah, more expensive companies do have great lip gloss but it stays on for like 10 minutes so why spend so much on something that doesn't even last that long?
Lip Stick: Splurge. Maybeline has great ColorSensational lipsticks, but MAC is better in my opinion. I don't know if MAC is too much of a splurge anyways because they're only like $4 more, but I would recomend MAC.
Lip Color/Balm: Save/Splurge. Lip color could be counted lip stick, but I put it in a different catagory because I have a different opinion on these and I think they're a little different. Stila's long wear lip color is AWESOME but it's a little expensive. CoverGirl's NatureLuxe gloss balm's are great too, so I would go both.
Lip Stain: Save!! Revlon and Maybeline have great lip stains, and I read in Allure that they last longer than Tarte's which is twice as expensive.

Primer: Save. I don't think a lot of people really need primer, but some people use it. Honestly I only use it to reduce shine but I have yet to find a really good one. I would skip even having a primer unless you feel you really need it.
Foundation/Tinted Moisturizer: Save! I LOVE L'Oreal's Studio Secrets Magic Smooth Souffle foundation. I used to not trust drugstore with my face, but this hasn't broken me out! I use Stila's Tinted Moisturizer and its great but drugstores have good ones too.
Concealer: Splurge. Concealer is my best friend because I have bad under eye circles, and I get occasional pimples so I need a good one to fix all of it!
Powder: Save. The only powder I splurge on is translucent powder because I use it all the time! I use BareMinerals Mineral Viel and its very healthy for your skin. I don't use pressed powder, but I know drugstores have some good ones. As far as bronzers and blushes go, I'd save save. Drugstores have good ones. Nyx has a HUGE bronzer for very cheep, and it works great.

Hope you enjoyed!

February 6th, 2011

Hey everyone! So today is my birthday AND the Superbowl! Here is what I am wearing. The shirt is from Charlotte Russe, the coat is from Forever 21 and the pants are from Forever 21 also. My shoes are vintage (I don't know where I got them.) I just curled my hair with a 1" curling iron. Hope you enjoyed! Who are you rooting for to win the superbowl? My favorite team is the Cowboys but since they're not in the Superbowl, I'm going for the Packers!

OOTD: January 16th

Today was a pretty cold day, so I went with a simple outfit. A chic take on a lazy Sunday. The black thermal is from JC Penny's, the scarf is from Forever21 and so are the pants, and the boots are from Charlotte Russe.
I curled my hair with a one inch clipless curling iron. I hope you guys enjoyed!

OOTD: January 15th

Hey everyone! Today it was pretty cold, so I went for a vintage-y look. The leather jacket is Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker (at Steve Madden), the shirt is from Rue21, the jeans are from Forever 21. You can't see in this picure, but they're bootleg with a couple holes. The scarf is from Rue21.
I didn't really do anything special to my hair. I straightened it lightly so it would have a little wave to it (my natural texture), but not a lot. I wanted it to be a little messy. These sandals are from Rue 21. Hope you enjoyed!
